Jerry Ji - MBA 2002

"Two years study doesn't always seem enough for this rapidly changing business world, but the MBA planted small trees of knowledge that grow as I continue to learn and put into practice what I learned."

For Jerry Ji, the skills he gained from the MBA - and the alumni network he is now plugged into - remain vital to his success in management.

"The MBA provided me with business tools needed to do my job and a valuable lifelong connection to my classmates – my "brothers and sisters" as we called each other," he says.

His thirst for knowledge and quest for clearer business answers grew during eight years spent working in sales and marketing for international companies. Ultimately, this saw him return to the classroom in 2000 for the MBA.

Since then he hasn’t looked back. After graduating he joined Singapore Telecommunications Limited as Business Development Manager before moving to Siemens Limited China as one of the "ground troops" in frontline sales. In 2004 he was appointed Provincial Business Development Manager.

"Siemens operates across sectors and employs over 50,000 people in China alone,” says Jerry. "In my management role I need to be visionary to see the whole picture of the company’s development but at the same time understand the detail at a regional level to support staff on the ground. It’s a challenge I enjoy."

Jerry is one of approximately 130 MBS alumni with an MBA from the Mt Eliza - University of Queensland MBA (International) program, taught in Beijing before MBS and Mt Eliza merged in 2003.

In 2007 the School launched the Master of Marketing – Beijing program in partnership with Beihang University. Visit MBS China at www.mbs.org.cn for details.
