The Tradeshow showcases Indigenous suppliers and their corporate partners. The full range of Indigenous diversity is on display, and businesses have the opportunity to show a range of products and services. The networking is intensive and opportunities for relationship building between Government, Corporate and Indigenous businesses are everywhere. Some of the most successful business partnerships were first established at the Connect Tradeshow. Attendees of the Connect 2012 Tradeshow found the event highly valuable, with fifteen contracts resulting from the day, and many more connections established. Indigenous suppliers are encouraged to register for tradeshow booths, as are corporate companies and government agencies who are interested in engaging in supplier diversity. The finale of Melbourne Connect 2013 is the Gala dinner, to be held at Docklands in Melbourne. The gala dinner features the presentation of the Supplier Diversity Awards, which celebrates the achievements of Supply Nation’s Corporate and Government members and Certified Indigenous Suppliers. These Awards are Australia’s highest recognition of companies, government agencies and individuals who strive to grow Indigenous business and enterprise. The gala dinner features a cocktail reception and entertainment by Indigenous artists. This year there are nine award categories to nominate for, and winners will be presented with a Supply Nation award accolade, to acknowledge their achievement.

Connect –Turning Contacts into Contracts - will also take place in Perth this year. This unique one-day event will feature exciting keynote speakers and interactive workshops on supplier diversity and development. The workshops will cover topics including the impacts of supplier diversity and supplier development. The Connect Tradeshow is wonderful opportunity to network and make new contacts, and is the perfect opportunity for Indigenous businesses and corporate companies based in WA to showcase their goods and services. It is a significant time for Indigenous businesses to come together with corporate and government Australia to network, share ideas and establish new connections. Following the Tradeshow is a cocktail reception, with a performance by WA Indigenous Singer/Songwriter Ulla Shay. Innovation and Social Impact - Conversation with Professor Ian Williamson

Professor Ian Williamson is the guest speaker at the HUB in Singapore on 9 April 2013.

Prof. Williamson will discuss the Asia Pacific Social Impact Leadership Centre’s work to support the development of sustainable social enterprises, indigenous economic development and the creation of pathways to work for underrepresented populations.  Drawing upon these experiences, Ian will illustrate how the development of cross-sector partnerships is key to creating the innovation needed for lasing social impact.

MURRA Indigenous Master Class Program 2013

The Asia Pacific Social Impact Leadership Centre (APSILC) at Melbourne Business School is proud to present the MURRA Indigenous Master Class Program, for established Indigenous business leaders. The six-class series, which starts in April, will provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business owners and leaders, with the latest research insights, skills and methods covering: Business Strategy, Finance, Marketing, Negotiations, Human Resource Management and Procurement.

Unlocking the Potential of the Arts - 14 February 2013 

APSILC is delighted to announce the launch of two research reports in the arts sector - Arts Philanthropy: Towards a Better Practice Model and Branding the Public Gallery Sector: A New Competitive Model looks at the issues around funding and branding and seeks to unlock the potential in this traditionally conservative environment.  The launch was on 14 February 2013 and was attended by Carol Schwartz AM, Chairwoman of the newly created federal arts investment agency.  Both studies have been made possible through the generous support of the Margaret Lawrence Bequest and can be downloaded at http://mbs.edu.au/go/centres-of-excellence/the-asia-pacific-centre-for-leadership-for-social-impact
