Dean's message

Weathering the storm

There's nothing like adversity to generate innovation, and as we weather the worst economic downturn in nearly 80 years, MBS is quietly innovating.

We are employing world-class faculty from leading international business schools, offering new elective subjects and executive programs tailored specifically for today's market, and hosting a variety of renowned scholars to teach, share research and engage with the corporate sector.

MBS is highly regarded internationally as evidenced by the principal international business school surveys. We dominate most of the international rankings for the Asia Pacific region, ranking number one in Asia Pacific and number 17 world-wide by the Economist Intelligence Unit, while the UK-based Financial Times ranks us at 52 globally.

Rankings are important when you are choosing a good business school. Higher ranked schools tend to attract better students or participants and faculty members, and they indicate strong placement and career prospects.

Good rankings also result from an engaged alumni network. MBS alumni are found in some of the world's highest business and government offices-a network of about 14,000 individuals spanning five decades, residing in more than 70 countries around the world, who regularly return to the school to engage with current students.

Exploiting your learning during and after a degree course

For those of you who wish to undertake a degree with us, we actively encourage you to become involved in activities offered outside the classroom. This might include networking with other students and industry groups, doing internships or simply taking advantage of options that allow you to reflect on and apply your learning outside the classroom context.

For example, an internship enables you to apply what you have learnt in the classroom while offering you opportunities that may be radically unlike your previous work experience. Our extracurricular activities, such as the student clubs, offer the same opportunities.

Our classrooms provide diverse and culturally rich learning environments. Faculty members are carefully chosen to ensure that they are outstanding teachers and also at the cutting edge of research in their discipline or actively involved and engaged with business.

Graduates from MBS forge great careers, in fact many of the benefits students get from the course are not realised until after they leave. We aid this process by offering alumni refresher courses that bring them back to the school for a weekend to reflect on their learning.

Corporate engagement

MBS offers short courses in executive education at our historic Mt Eliza campus. Mt Eliza is ranked by the Financial Times as the No. 1 provider of executive education in Australia and the Asia Pacific region and globally, a top 40 provider.

Our dedicated team at Mt Eliza Executive Education also engage with organizations to design programs that are built especially for your needs. Our customized programs are world leading and ensure that you get exactly what you and your employees need. We follow up with you and help you measure the effects of our programs in reaching the particular organizational goals you seek.

Purpose built facilities

Our facilities are purpose built for your exclusive use. Our school was founded by the business community, and today we are a unique partnership between one of Australia's greatest universities and the business community.

For more than forty years the school has been built through continuous investment in staff, facilities, research and resources, with the specific objective of educating and developing global business leaders of the future.

We deliver life-changing business education experiences, excellent employment prospects for our graduates, organisational transformation for our corporate clients and business knowledge through research.
