PhD and research profiles

"I chose to study my PhD at MBS because of its reputation. Its affiliation with industry leaders was also a drawcard. I think it is very important to approach a PhD not only from an academic viewpoint but to have practitioner involvement as well. I haven’t undertaken my PhD with an academic career in mind. Rather, I hope the knowledge gained will directly benefit my family business which is in the farming industry.”
Melina Parker (Current Phd student)

Melina Parker commenced her PhD studies at MBS in 2004, investigating the Resource Based View of Buyer-Supplier Relationships within the Australian fresh produce industry. Melina completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Marketing and International Business, at the University of Tasmania in 1999. After working in Marketing and Leasing roles at AE Smith and Lend Lease respectively, she returned to university, studying Marketing Honours (Bachelor of Business) at Monash University. Whilst undertaking honours, she worked at the Australian Centre for Retail Studies.

“The MBS offers first-rate resources and facilities, dedicated attention, and a broad range of learning opportunities to support students completing a PhD. I gained immense value from my exposure to the diverse faculty and student body, both within the School and the broader University, as well as through the excellent teaching and research opportunities.”
