Technological change has meant that parents and doctors have far greater discretion over when a baby is born. While the promise that technology is that it will allow for more effective medical decision-making, the reality looks somewhat different. This talk will examine the economic determinants of birth timing raising worrying signs for maternity hospital procedures.
