The Inaugural National Australia Bank Law and Economics Lecture
National Economic Regulation: the cost of (inadequate?) reform
Presented by Professor Bob Baxt AO
Critical questions facing Australia include the fact that the Hilmer Reforms, which led to the agreement between the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments in the Competition Principles Agreement 1995 have not delivered the best results. Duplications and overlapping legislation have significant cost implications and have led to another round of COAG initiatives. In this lecture Professor Bob Baxt will explore the problems and possible solutions.
