Launch of the MBS Marketing Association - Australia's Marketing Report Card: Measuring our Marketing Effectiveness
The MBS Marketing Association held its first event on 18 September, with a discussion on the importance and practicalities of measuring marketing effectiveness. Senior Fellow in Marketing, Don O’Sullivan, joined with Australian Institute of Marketing Chairman, Roger James, to tackle the issue from the big picture all the way down to the ‘nuts and bolts’ of marketing metrics.

Women and Management Dinner
The 2008 WAM dinner was held at the Sofitel Melbourne on Tuesday 5th of August. Key note speakers Laura Hartman, Gourlay Visiting Professor of Ethics in Business and Associate VP, Academic Affairs, De Paul University and Pera Wells, Secretary General of the World Federation of the United Nations Associations explored the leadership role women can take in guiding the social responsibility agendas in their organisations.

Michael Luscombe shares his supermarket success
Michael Luscombe, CEO of Woolworths and MBS alumnus (AMP 1996), began his leadership journey at the check-out of a suburban Safeway and continued to the very top of one of the country's largest retailers, Woolworths Limited.

Speaking at an APC Leadership Series breakfast for students and alumni on July 4, Mr Luscombe told of the rewards and challenges involved in managing a retail giant of 3000 stores and 180,000 employees. He encouraged the audience to consider a career in retail, which had many students lining up for business cards after the presentation.
