Journey begins for new students
Jan, 2008
An outstanding cohort of future leaders and managers from across the globe joined the MBS community this month. The 55 new full-time and 86 part-time students from our January intake hail from across Asia, North and South America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.
The full-time students have an average of six-years work experience and their average age is 30. Part-time students have slightly more work experience at eight years, and their average age is 32.
The students have a mixed educational background, with undergraduate degrees in engineering, medicine, arts, IT, law, education, business, science and agriculture.
New full-time student, Hua Hoai Nam was running his own design firm in Ho Chi Minh City before moving to Melbourne this year for his MBA.
"I like working with people and managing a business. I wanted to do my MBA so I could develop my management skills and gain a global perspective on business issues," he said.
He chose MBS for its Asia Pacific focus as well as the expansive international student and alumni network. Now having enjoyed orientation week and soon to finish his first subject, the intensive World of Management class, Nam – an architect by profession - is pleased to be at the School and among his new colleagues.
"There is a great mix of nationalities, professions and personalities here and I hope to benefit from the different perspectives and experiences of other students,' he said.
As part of the intake, the School also welcomed ten students from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile who are here on exchange. And earlier this month a group of MBA students from Stern Business School gained insight on doing business in Australia at a two-week intensive subject at MBS.
